The reason I want to study Japanese is because I am half Japanese. My mother's entire family resides in Japan. This past summer I went to visit my Japanese family after seven years! I had lots of fun during my stay, but I had one regret. Not being able to communicate with my family. Most of my family members cannot speak English and my understanding of Japanese is minimal. It is important to me that I learn in order to communicate with my family. In addition to all of this, I love the Japanese culture! I am excited to improve my reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Besides, my mother did name me after a Japanese manga character… ;)
